Description:
Papers of Thomas Secker (1693-1768), Archbishop of Canterbury 1758-68, relating to foreign Protestants in England and abroad, especially the provision of aid for Protestants suffering religious persecution, exile or other forms of distress. The papers have endorsements in Secker's hand and appear to have been arranged by him.

Secker included here papers of his predecessors, Archbishops William Wake and Thomas Herring. The papers continue in MSS. 1122/2-4.

ff. 124-125 [item 45]. List of 184 French Protestants (with their ages and occupations) who have left France for their religion and are residing in Jersey. 30 April 1750. With an endorsement by Herring: 'This given to me ... May 23 1750'.
