Description:
Detailed accounts of receipts, wages, expenses and purchases made by William de Eyremyn as treasurer of Calais and keeper of the king's victuals. The accounts, which are drawn up in fair copy for submission to the Exchequer, concern the fortification, supply and manning of Calais itself and the outlying castles and forts of Guines, Marck, Oye, Hammes and Sangatte. A contemporary heading on f. 1v describes the accounts as: 'Particule compoti Willelmi de Eyremyn Thesaurarii ville Cales ac Emptoris et Custodis omnium victualium Regis pro municione ville predicte, videlicet de receptis vadiis solucionibus misis et expensis per ipsum Thesaurarium in officiis predictis factis a quarto die Novembris anno l(o). Regis E[dwardi] tercii usque tercium diem Februarii anno secundo Regis Ricardi secundi per visum et testimonium Thome Godelake contrarotulatoris Regis ibidem'.
