Title:
La Danse Macabre [Dance of Death]
Subject:
Incunabula
Description:
This is a book printed at Paris in Gothick types, and contains 35 most curious and highly finished illuminations, descriptive of each dialogue between Death and the character whom he addresses. I conceive this book to have issued from the press of A. Verard [Gillet Couteau and Jean Menard, for Antoine VĂ©rard]. Warton, in his Hist. of Eng. Poetry, speaking of the Dance of Death, appears to have been unacquainted with this publication of it in French.
