Initial to prol. has, above, man in scarlet tunic pointing to his mouth: below, dark man wrestling with bear. Bull. pl. v. Oblong picture at bottom of page (1/4 of text in height). Three divisions. L. Blue ground. L. Boaz in hat with long blank scroll. Ruth in scarlet stoops and gleans. R. four reapers in broad hats with sickles: one below binds sheaf. C. gold ground: under an arch R. Naomi seated handles corn in the lap of Ruth (L.) in blue. R. gold ground. Under triple arch. Boaz (R.) reclines, with blank scroll: at his feet Ruth, very small, bareheaded, uncovers his feet. Illustrations of Ruth are by no means common. Initial to text: a very long I, almost the height of the column, containing three medallions with blue grounds. a. top. Boaz (L.) in hat empties bowl of grain into the lap of Ruth bareheaded standing on R. Tub of corn in C. b. City gate on L. Boaz with scroll, and two others. R. a youth with bent knee: two men behind him. c. L. a gate. Boaz in hat, with scroll, and extended foot: youth (one of a group of four on R.) pulls off his shoe.
